7.1 Mile 25K training run…boy it’s cold out there! by wm8c at Garmin Connect – Details.

This is going to be a long training season if I can’t get my head back around the longer runs again.  I seem to be getting lazy and running for more than an hour doesn’t feel natural at the moment. Something better than 5 deg. probably wouldn’t hurt either but in years past that never seemed to bother me.  Oh well, it’s early yet :O)

I think I fought with myself all the way through 7 miles today and I don’t usually do that but all I kept thinking was how far I had left to go and that wasn’t putting me into my “joyful place” at all.  The weather has been terrible the past week and has made running very difficult with sub zero wind chills on Thursday when I should have gone out for my last run but it was just too cold even for 3 miles.

I have a busy weekend ahead again with lots of work needed to get the ham radio printed t-shirt section of our website up and running at http://www.astridsembroidery.com .  I have been putting it off for a few weeks and I really need to get busy right now.  Have a great week and keep going with whatever exercise you may be doing!

  1. I wouldn’t sweat it. When it comes to running, cold weather (especially WINDY cold weather) can be a burden to even the most experienced runner. I’ve been having trouble running long distances in this cold as well… my skin goes numb and I start getting paranoid I’m gonna get frostbite, or there’s non-stop wind blowing in my face that just knocks that wind out of me.

    Bring on spring!
